Data Resources Core

The PHACS Data Resources Core (DRC) provides operations, design, methodologic, and analytic expertise and support to the development of the PHACS research protocols.

The DRC operates under the direction of its Director and Associate Director, and is based at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Day-to-day administration and finance are led by the PHACS Program Director and Director of Finance, respectively. The DRC consists of the above individuals along with the Westat, Inc. Project Director and the Director of the PHACS Data Management Center (DMC) at Frontier Science, along with statisticians, epidemiologists and other staff who support the work of this Core.

The charge of the DRC is to:

  1. Execute and manage subcontracts for clinical sites, the DMC and any other partner institutions falling within the jurisdiction of the DRC;

  2. Utilize its relationship with and direct access to clinical sites and their personnel, including Clinical Investigators, Site Coordinators and Staff and Community Advisory Board/Young Adult Community Advisory Board (CAB/YACAB) members, to efficiently and effectively implement all PHACS Research Projects;

  3. By delegation to the SES, review and approve policies and procedures for site monitoring and evaluation;

  4. Serve as the centralized data and resource management entity for the PHACS network;

  5. Provide sample tracking, manage sample storage, and oversee laboratory data management;

  6. Develop policies and procedures for laboratory selection and monitoring;

  7. Provide programming and analytical core services for integrated study design and data analysis;

  8. Provide support to the Single IRB (sIRB) process and regulatory and compliance management for clinical sites;

  9. Manage data storage and access;

  10. Develop and direct the overarching Project Management Plan for the PHACS Cores and Research Projects in coordination with the Scientific Administrative Core (SAC);

  11. Oversee and execute the sharing and transfer of PHACS samples and data as well as the receipt of data from collaborating networks or investigators;

  12. Serve as a shared resource to all PHACS Research Projects and Cores.
